Law 41/2015 required the paternal ancestor's name in the 1921–24 census (residents or emigrants) or the 1932 emigrant records; the same entries will anchor any reopened route.
Unverified: fees and turnaround for census-register certificates; usually obtained in Lebanon through a mukhtar, relative or lawyer.
Directorate General of Personal Status: the family civil extract (إخراج قيد عائلي) or individual extract (إخراج قيد فردي) for the Lebanese father or grandfather

A recent family or individual extract (or the Lebanese father's ID card) is what the consulate asks for when registering a child's birth.
Unverified: U.S. documents are legalised or apostilled and translated into Arabic by a sworn translator in Lebanon or at the consulate; the New York consulate accepts English birth certificates for birth registration.
Not reachable on this route while it is closed. For a child of a registered Lebanese father: after birth registration (Consulate General in New York, 9 East 76th Street, New York, NY 10021 — address search-sourced, snippet confidence, verified 2026-09-25 — $63 by money order, about 5 months), the passport is issued through the embassy or a consulate by General Security. Passport fee not verified; figure is an estimate.
Law 41/2015 let descendants of registered emigrants reacquire Lebanese nationality for ten years. The window closed on or about 24 November 2025; sources differ by a day or two.
The cabinet approved a bill to reopen reacquisition
On 8 May 2026 the Council of Ministers approved a draft law that would remove the deadline and widen eligibility from the second to the fourth degree. It had not passed Parliament by September 2026, so the route stays closed. It would not change the rule that nationality passes through the father.
