Time
Immediate: entry itself is the only step, no permit to apply for.
Cost
$0. Travel/health insurance is not a legal requirement for the visa-free stay itself, though most nomads carry it.
The hard part
Staying inside the exemption: taking any paid work for a Georgian employer or client without the SESA right-to-work permit is now enforced, where before March 2026 it was an unregulated grey area.

Georgian, at the level set by the state's naturalisation exam.

Time away
Ten years in a row of lawful residence. A year counts as continuous only if you spent no more than 90 days outside Georgia in it (up to 2 years abroad for study or medical treatment are allowed). You also need a job, property or business in Georgia.
Two passports
Usually not: new citizens are asked to give up their other citizenship.
  • Time on this program does not count toward permanent residence or citizenship; the family would need to switch to one that does.
  • A visa-free year is not a residence permit, so it does not start the 10-year clock to permanent residence. A family that wants Georgian status needs a work, investment or other residence permit.
  • The Georgian-language level is often quoted as B1, but no official text giving that level was found.
  • The law caps the review at 3 months, but real waits to a presidential decree were not found.
  • Whether years on a visa-free stay count as 'lawful residence' for citizenship is not spelled out; this file assumes they do not.
