Thailand Privilege (formerly Thailand Elite)

A Privilege Entry visa issued in 1-year stamps for the membership term, with the company handling 90-day reporting, airport fast-track, and other concierge services; no work rights.

Who qualifies

  • Pay the membership fee for a chosen tier and pass a background check; the Gold tier costs THB 900,000 (about $25,700) for 5 years, Platinum THB 1,500,000 (about $42,800) for 10 years, and Diamond THB 2,500,000 (about $71,400) for 15 years, each including a THB 50,000 application fee credited to the membership.

Knowledge of Thai as set by ministerial regulation.
Time away
A domicile in Thailand for five consecutive years up to the application, which in practice means five years holding permanent residence. A regular occupation and good conduct are also required, and the Minister decides.
Two passports
It depends on the rules at the time and on your home country.
  • Time on this program does not count toward permanent residence or citizenship; the family would need to switch to one that does.
  • A paid membership that brings a long-stay visa for its term (5 to 20 years by tier); it does not count toward permanent residence.
  • The Nationality Act has no clause requiring applicants to give up their old citizenship, but I found no official statement either way; your home country's rules may still end it.
  • That 'domicile' means five years as a permanent resident is how Thai practice reads section 10(4), not the wording of the Act.
  • No official decision time found; the Minister's approval then needs Royal Assent.

180 or more days a year makes you Thai tax resident on the ordinary rules; Privilege carries no tax exemption of its own.
